Dance The Day Away On Muswellbrook Cup Day (Friday)

Grab your partners this Friday as the Big Dance heads to Muswellbrook for one of the region’s social highlights of the year.

The day features the $150,000 Muswellbrook Gold Cup sponsored by The Remington: “The Remington is considered the area’s number one hotel for service and luxury in the heart of town,” said Muswellbrook Race Club’s Kristie Corbett.

“ us for a great day of racing with delicious food, live music, and The Chop Shop Butchery Fashions on the Field with plenty of cash prizes.

“It will be a great day out with friends and it’s an exciting afternoon that patrons won’t want to miss!”

The Remington Muswellbrook Gold Cup is a qualifying race for the $3m Big Dance at Royal Randwick on Tuesday 5 November.

Racing in tandem on Friday is Sapphire Coast with their Mitre 10 Tradies & Ladies Raceday.

“We have an eight-race TAB meeting with bookmakers, bars, food vans and a kiosk operating on the day,” said Sapphire Coast Turf Club's Sponsorship & Marketing Manager, Jen Svenoy.

“Patrons can enter the Human Wheelbarrow race for a chance to win great prizes.

“Gates open at 12:30pm and we’ll have free buses to and from the track with times and locations on our website sapphirecoastturfclub.com.au where you can also find details on the golf package option, the Mitre 10 Tradies Golf & Raceday bundle for $66.

“Tradies and Ladies Raceday is proudly sponsored by Hyne Timber, Middy’s Electrical, McKills Tree services, Build Cert, Core Infrastructure Services, Clark Equipment, Bega Landscape Supplies & Wes Fleet Painting.”

Cootamundra picnics are on Saturday and is day for all ages with children’s activities and the much-anticipated Fashions on the Field.

The club will be hoping for better luck than last year when the meeting had to be called off after the track had not recovered sufficiently from flood damage.

Sue Kingwill, secretary of Cootamundra Picnic Race Club, said: “It will be a fantastic afternoon with a display by the Riverina Light Horse Troop, live music, marquee options, on-course betting, a bar along with food and drinks, and ice-cream vans that will all be operating.

“It’s a much-anticipated social event, more than just a race meeting, connecting friends, family and the community together and our valued sponsors make the Cootamundra picnics possible,” Kingwill said.

“Recognising mental health and wellbeing is a cause special to many people’s hearts and will be a feature of the day so please wear blue or a touch of blue. So come and enjoy country hospitality at its best!”

Finally, Sunday will be a great day out for families at this year’s Gundagai Cup meeting.

“Our committee has decided to run it as a Family Day with lots of free kids’ rides on the day,” explained Michael Crowe, president of Gundagai-Adelong Racing Club.

“There’ll also be plenty of great food from the bistro; it’s a full TAB meeting with the Cup winner exempt from ballot in the [$200k] Wagga Gold Cup. Gates open at 11.30am and tickets are just $10 for adults with kids free.”

Feature race of the afternoon is the $36,000 Gundagai Cup over 1800m.
