Jockey Quotes - The Galaxy

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1,000,000 Kia Ora Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Ashley Morgan (Private Harry): “Amazing – really like to appreciate you and everyone for ing me and wishing me well. I was a bit cautious out the gates, I thought you'd pull the shoes, I'd let us check if I don't want anything to go wrong. Growing Empire 1, not to be in the gates, but when they gates open, he's so good, he's such a free roll and a quick horse, and when Eagle Nest crossed and I said come back, he was finally relaxed and good, and when I straightened up, he sees that straight and he just grabs and goes, you know, and the scary thing is he will improve for it.

“Well, I gave it a big salute, and I was like, oh, I sure won. So, I don't know, I look stupid, but I'm still looking at my eyes. You get in that moment, and there's just a ton of booze in there, and it was just pure ecstasy, which is an amazing feeling, I can't describe.

“I've been lucky Nath given me the opportunity, I'm very grateful for that, and Sean, you know, and everyone else. Oh, and Hippo says, thank my manager too, even though I got myself a ride.”

Private Harry wins the Galaxy

Damian Lane (Uncommon James): “Super run with the weight. Had to do a bit of work. Very honest.”

Tim Clark (Front Page): “Super performance. Matty had him prepared perfectly and he ran accordingly.”

Nash Rawiller (I Am Me): “She went great. She jumped better today although a little awkward. We were beaten for speed once again. What it was was a great run for the 1200m.”

Tommy Berry (Lady Laguna): “Just felt like when the spring went on at the 600m she was pretty close to her top. She is not as sharp as she once was. Has a nice race in her this time in. Going very well.”

Tom Marquand (Jedibeel): “Just got a tough run around from the draw. He’s a horse who looks to find a spot and explode off it. Didn’t have the spot to do that.”

James McDonald (Growing Empire): “He is a beautiful horse. His time is not now. He is going to win a big one but probably next prep.”

Alysha Collett (Dragonstone): “Good run. Bad barrier.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Estriella): “Didn’t get the right sort of run. I think she can turn the tables if she gets the right ground for her.”

Tyler Schiller (Briasa): “I thought he has gone enormously. It’s a shame we were left in the carpark. Had to give ground to a lot of good horses. Has made up a lot of ground late. Really happy with him.”

Rachel King (Eagle Nest): “Had to do too much work and got buffeted halfway up the straight.”

Zac Lloyd (Commemorative): “Very stiff there. It was a disaster from the draw. She didn’t get much luck up the straight.”

Reece Jones (Time To Boogie): “Had the right run. Didn’t handle the back up from last week.”
